Dear Ask Anonymous,

I’ve only ever had one physical relationship before and it was very confusing and new to me. Not to mention, the guy was more experienced with kissing than I.

I’ve tried to learn how to make out/french kiss properly since then, since the guy was always telling me I couldn’t do it right. No matter how many videos I watch or how-to’s I read, I can’t figure it out.

Help?

Dear Nadia,

I- myself- have only gone so far with so many boys, so I am honestly no expert on this. But I will give you the usual tips on this: Take things slow, for one. It’s the best way to avoid teeth-bumping (which hurts) and head-butting (which hurts and is awkward/embarrassing.) Also, when using tongues, be sure to keep them in mouths. As in, keep yours in his and his in yours. You don’t want tongues all over the place. Trust me on this.

Honestly, in my opinion, it was wrong of your boyfriend to say you were “doing it wrong”. First off, even if you were “doing it wrong”, he really shouldn’t have said anything; you would have gotten better. Secondly, if he was going to take the time to point this out to you, he should have also taken the time to teach you how it’s properly done, because, really, that’s the only way to learn. You’ve got to experience it. No matter how many how-to’s you read, or how many videos you watch, only practice is going to make perfect.

With that in mind, go out and find a decently nice guy, ask him out to a movie, and start practicing. I hope I’ve helped.
